Originally discovered on Craigslist for a mere $300, Old Smokey captured Scott's imagination with its solid build and unique patina. What began as a humble shop truck quickly transformed into a full-blown racing machine, powered by a 24 valve commonrail diesel and outfitted with not one, but two massive turbochargers.
Debuting at the 2016 SEMA Show, Old Smokey's transformation captivated audiences and garnered widespread acclaim, winning Car and Driver's Top 10 of SEMA 2016. Since then, it's undergone multiple evolutions, culminating in a state-of-the-art racing truck valued at over $400,000, equipped with the best-of-the-best components and hill climb capabilities.
Powered by a modern 6.7L Freedom Racing Engines common rail Cummins diesel, Old Smokey boasts twin Garrett turbochargers, delivering a staggering 1,400 horsepower and nearly 2,000 lb.-ft. of torque. Scott's partnership with Dynomite Diesel has further elevated the truck's performance, utilizing a prototype injector for nearly smokeless operation at high-power levels. Despite facing numerous challenges, including engine blowouts and mechanical mishaps, Scott's determination propelled Old Smokey to victory, setting a record-breaking time of 11:24.065 at the 2020 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
In 2024, Scott will face the mountain once again as he races his diesel-powered LMP1 car at Pikes Peak. As he prepares to conquer America's Mountain once again, Scott relies on the unmatched protection of the Stilo ST5 FN ABP helmet. With its advanced design tailored for open cockpit cars, the ST5 FN ABP ensures Scott's safety without compromising on performance, allowing him to focus solely on the task at hand.
